I'm not really big on talking about myself... but I know that when I am looking through someone else's Website, I like to read a little about the person who created the Art work... things like what type of person they are and what inspires them! So, for those who think like me, here goes... I must confess, I have never had any formal art training but for as long as I can remember, I have been a creative person in one way or another. As a child, I loved to draw Walt Disney's characters... during my 'David Bowie' and 'Hawkwind' inspired teenage years, I sketched weird imaginings of chained planets held in place by gnarled hands! (Thank goodness that phase passed!) All through my adult years I have given much of my time to various creative endeavors... needlework, drawing, painting, mosaics, quilling and so many others! I never really found that creative 'niche'... that special something that I'd been looking for. For the last 6 to 7 years I've been a porcelain and cloth doll maker and I have thoroughly enjoyed it... but deep down inside I wasn't satisfied and I knew there was something more! |

Then one day, out of the blue, I just decided to try a vinyl doll repaint... a My Scene Nolee, to be exact. (Belladonna is in my Gallery if you would like to see her). I had drooled over the gorgeous and stunning repaints on Ebay for years but strangely enough, the thought of actually trying one had never occurred to me... until now. I suppose its simply a case of there being 'a right time' for all things! Needless to say, I immediately became hooked... I've become extremely passionate about my repainting and I know in my heart that I've finally found the place where I'm supposed to be. |

For me, repainting and makeover art is a truly wonderful outlet... kind of my very own little fantasy world away from the stressful and fast paced 'Real' world. As I continue to learn and grow and become more adventurous in my art, I'm sure you will certainly see these changes in my painting style and costuming. Inspiration for my dolls comes from a number of sources... I firmly believe in femininity in a woman, so I find I'm very often drawn to romantic historical characters such as 'Elizabeth' from Pride and Prejudice, 'Scarlet' from Gone with the Wind and 'Guinevere' from the King Arthur tales. Fantasy creatures that hail from our imaginations are wonderful themes to work on. I love 'beautiful' fantasy... ethereal beings like Faeries, Angels and Mermaids. I'm also looking forward to creating some strong warrior like characters using Greek and Roman myths as inspiration! The possibilities are endless... that's what makes it so much fun! |

When I create my characters, what is most important to me is not that the eyes are perfectly round or that the hair is immaculate or that every stitch in the costume is even... the most important thing for me is that each character I create will evoke a 'special' feeling within his or her new owner. Josie, a good friend of mine, once spoke to me of people making 'Connections' with dolls. That is my absolute desire... that every doll I make will have a connection with their owner. Please enjoy exploring the pages in this website. Feel free to email me anytime with questions, comments or suggestions... all are welcome!
